Antique Victorian Faux Tortoise Articulated Shield Pendant

Antique Victorian to Edwardian era early plastic faux tortoise articulated triple shield pendant, possibly French in origin. The jump ring is 14k gold, while the top loop and rivet are metal. I suspect the solid gold jump ring was a later addition and that this may have been attached to a full matching necklace originally, though I can not be certain.
Good condition with signs of age and wear. Several little chips throughout.
